In an age in which the job market is rough for recent grads, a career in nursing is not a bad profession to pursue. Nurses are not only fulfilling upon their civic duty to help others, but they are also consistently in high demand. Not all universities offer Nursing majors, but we’ve curated a list of top-tier programs that do.
Penn
Penn is widely-regarded as one of the top nursing programs in the world. Nursing students at Penn will not only have the chance to learn at an Ivy League institution, but also to pursue opportunities in clinical work at Philadelphia hospitals, some of which are among the best in the country. Penn Nursing encourages students to minor, double-major, or gain early acceptance into a Master’s program. They also offer a dual-degree in Nursing and Health Care Management, in which students will graduate with both a B.S. in Nursing, as well as a B.S. in Economics from Wharton.
NYU
New York City is home to numerous world-renowned hospitals. It comes as no surprise that NYU offers a top-notch nursing program right in the heart of the city. The Rory Meyers College of Nursing is a great program for undergrads interested in pursuing careers in professional nursing. Students are also able to take classes at the university’s Schools of Culture, Education, College of Arts, and School of Human Development.
Emory
Emory University’s graduate school of Nursing is a top five in the nation, according to US News & World Report. The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing offers a four-year undergraduate program that is also great for hard-working college students. The school has over 400 undergraduate students and boasts an employment rate of 88 percent for graduates in their first three months post-college.
Michigan
The University of Michigan School of Nursing also offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In addition to a traditional Nursing curriculum, Michigan also has options for mini-courses in trauma-informed practice, as well as a minor in population health in a global context for students interested in global disease, health, and human rights.
Duke
Not all undergraduate institutions offer great options for students who want to be nurses. Duke, which has one of the top graduate Nursing programs in the nation, has a solution: The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Duke’s program is specifically designed for students who have already completed their undergrad studies and wish to pursue a 16-month degree.
